Below Ground Systems
A lot of thought, planning and time goes into designing your dream swimming pool. A Grando automatic pool cover can give your pool that exquisite finishing touch.
Involve Grando UK at design stage and incorporate one of our 8 carefully designed below ground systems into your concept. The Grando below ground system is the ‘must have’ for new builds.
Designed so that the cover sits below water level the majority of models are hidden away in a pit at the bottom of the pool or in a recess in the pool wall, and enter the swimming pool when the cover is operated. If you don’t want a rectangular pool but are worried about getting a cover to accommodate it, consider a Grando IBS-8.
Whatever your needs, we’ve got it covered…
Roller system mounted at the bottom of the pool but not in a pit. This cover is suitable for both new builds and existing swimming pools.
For existing pools, a dry motor pit would need to be excavated adjacent to the position of the carrier shaft to house the drive unit. A 100mm Dia. Hole would need to be core drilled and sealed while the pool is empty.
Underwater top bench and front panels are available as accessories.
The roller system is mounted below the bottom of the pool in a pit with a stainless steel framed pit cover with white slatted PVC inserts.
This model is only suitable for new builds. PVC trays for mosaic tiling are available as an accessory

PVC panel for tiling is available as an accessory. Can be installed with either a skimmer or level deck pool design.
The perfect solution for outstanding pools.
The roller system is isolated from the swimming pool by a hinged automatic shutter system. The pit is situated at the bottom of the pool at the widest point. Two covers are fitted to one shaft, meaning minimal cover chamber dimensions. PVC sheets can be supplied as a finish to the automatic shutter for subsequent mosaic tiling.
This design is unique to Grando.
Roller system is situated in a separate pit behind the end of the wall of the pool and the cover operates through a gap between the dividing wall and a beam system spanning the width. The motor is sited adjacent in a dry pit.
However, there is no dividing wall between the cover pit and the motor pit, only an extension to the pool cover chamber to one side of the pool to accommodate a submerged PVC motor drive unit. The motor is accommodated in a plastic housing, protected from water by a twin-seal system.
